Real Mountain Values started as a running joke between myself, Brianna Willis and my husband, Patrick. A certain politician ran a campaign that constantly discussed mountain values. To tell you the truth Patrick and I don't remember that much about the campaign other than every time we would see a sign or commercial we would discuss exactly what made up a mountain value... Shotgun weddings?

A Perfect Complement

Me and Brianna have a pretty good relationship. We get along with each other, we laugh at each others’ jokes and are really best friends. But the real thing that keeps us so close is the fact that we complement each other so well. You know, I take out the trash and do the dishes, Brianna does the laundry; I feed the Boy in the morning, Brianna changes him and gets him dressed, etc.

Overall, it would be safe to say that I am generally considered the monetarily conservative one in the family while Brianna, while not much of a “free-spender” herself, tends to “fall behind” in updating herself on the family finances from time to time. But our relationship is good because sometimes I need to splurge on some fun things while occasionally Brianna needs to stop and think about money. We are definitely a good complement for each other that way.

But there are a few other equally important things that we complement each other on. you’ve probably already read about the beer issue on our blog. Because of our type of relationship, no one in our house is throwing away a perfectly good beverage (at least not if I can help it). But there’s other ways in which we’re a great fit for each other.

In our house, Brianna is the person that turns on all the lights. And I don’t just mean a light here, a light there. I mean, like all the lights. So, in our efforts to try to conserve energy (but mostly money), I am the one that goes around and turns off all the lights behind her. In fact, I just watched part of The Walking Dead that explained this phenomena in one of the scenes. Maybe women are just always scared of zombies, who knows?!?

Apparently, Brianna is also the person in the household that cannot find a single thing once it has been set down. Keys? Found ‘em. Electric adapter for the baby’s wipe warmer? Discovered that sucker. Screwdriver? With the other tools. Cell phone? Piece of cake! And the nice thing is that Brianna gives me tons of practice almost every day so that I can stay on top of my shit-finding skills.

I mean, look at this blog. Brianna posts stuff about DIY, pretty pictures of the mountains, you know, things that people want to read about. And then, all of the sudden, BAM!, you get some wisdom nuggets from Yours Truly that will enhance the quality of your life for years (or at least seconds).  So, for all of you scientists and math people, here’s our equation:

Cool advice + cool pictures + wisdom nuggets = Awesomeness.

And that is how I would describe our blog.

Your random image for the blog. No, I have no clue what it means. If you figure it out, you can comment. But don't waste too much of your time. It probably isn't worth it.
