I’m not really sure what went on this week… I just know it seemed to go on FOREVER. Perhaps it was because it was Groundhog day?
Since it is all a blur we’ll just skip to the goals:
- Spending/Saving: Finally a week without useless spending! As a bonus I have finished the taxes, though, I can’t file till mid-Feb! We are getting some money back, which always pisses me off, but not as much as owing taxes pisses me off. Still, I don’t like loaning the government my cash throughout the year. However, if we hadn’t gotten the Making Work Pay Credit, it would have been a close thing. To be honest I call it the Making it Work credit in my head each time I see it (thank you Project Runway). We also learned an important lessen, even if you don’t itemize your taxes hold on to the receipts that you could use to itemize. With two houses we actually needed to itemize this year for the first time ever. Do I have any of the additional receipts for itemization like charitable contributions? The insane doctor bills for McClain’s surgeries? No of course not. Take this as tax lesson learned.
- Self-Sufficiency: Well I measured the garden space… Let’s move on.
- Time Management: Back episodes of Spartacus on Netflix after watching a silly movie with Patrick, check. Actually, other than one night of lazy computer watching I have crafted, gone to the gym, spent time with Patrick, planned my seed order, laundry, worked on a garden layout, and various household tasks. Maybe this is why the week seems so long?
- Learning Appreciation: I have a lot of appreciation for my family this week. My in-laws are coming to take care of McClain while I go to my conference in March, I had an unexpected gift from the Granny, my Sister-in-law acts just as excited as me when McClain started walking this week… Oh, McClain started walking this week! It’s nice to remember that I am surrounded by loving friends and family. I can’t know how lucky I am, but I have an inkling.
One major issue is where are we going to go with the blog? Patrick and I want to decide on a focus and go from there… But what focus? Any ideas?
