We’ve all heard about the successful ‘Occupy’ movements around the country as thousands of people have brought attention to the immense wealth gap between the top wealthiest Americans and the rest of the country. The occupiers have hung out in New York City’s Zuccotti Park since August, and other groups have sprung up from this initial movement in lower Manhattan. Despite the reports though, not all of the ‘Occupy’ protests have had as much success as NYC’s. Here’s a list of some of the less popular movements around the country:
1. Occupy Port-o-John. This was one of the more far-fetched

Happy Black Friday! Like most of America you are probably out shopping today. However, if you are like me and skipping the whole thing then you might just be thinking about your holiday/Christmas decorating. While I will probably work on my decorations off and on the next couple of weeks I started trying to pick a theme a few days ago. I understand this is kind of late for many people, but we traditionally decorate later and keep items up after Christmas (sometimes I can even last till Epiphany).
Seeing as I am entering the Centsational Girl/Homegoods tablescape contest next

As a friend recently told us: Make sure to gobble until you wobble!
By Patrick, on November 24th, 2011 Well, the pumpkin batch is done and has been tasted. And yet again, more experimentation must be done. And by more experimentation, I mean no more pussy-footing around. This batch was good-as a plain American ale. There may be a slight hint or two of pumpkin in there, but not enough to really make you say “Wow! That’s some good gosh-darn Pumpkin Brew!” As for the nutmeg and cinnamon, I’m probably going to quadruple what the recipe says I should use. The next batch, I’m going balls-out. I will taste some nutmeg, cinnamon and pumpkin next time. Brianna bought another pumpkin, and

Tomorrow we will get back to our regularly scheduled programming of event and party planning ideas and decor. Until then I had to share just a little more of what we learned in Mexico, photo style.
Things We Learned in Mexico
I am the same shade as the fabled white sands of Cancun Rabbits enjoy the beach too. Cenotes (giant sinkholes) are pretty damn cool It is important to carve skulls in places where you sacrifice people. Walking across the grass to read a small sign may be embarrassing. Egypt can suck it. Observatories… We didn’t invent them.

This contest is now closed! Thank you to all that participated. I’ll be contacting the winner and posting the results on Monday.
So we are proud to announce Real Mountain Values’ first ever giveaway. Since we have no money and no sponsors this isn’t going to be the fanciest giveaway you’ve ever seen. However, we are still excited!
As the holidays roll around we see more and more people arriving at RMV by searching tutorials on making fresh evergreen wreaths and garland. Since we can’t afford to buy our favorite readers (you) a gift this holiday season we decided to

We made it down and back to Cancun last week, and somehow managed to keep our heads. I was shocked to find that we did not get an armed security detail from the Mexican government-I mean, I am an elected official of the great town of Canton for Pete’s sake. Nothing. Not even some pepper spray. But my reputation must have preceded me because everyone treated us really well in Mexico. Almost as if they didn’t even know I was an important political figure. Anyways, on to the notes!!
Note #1: A letter to Canadiens
Dear Canadiens,
You do not

Tuesday we looked at the basics of a color wheel (Part I). Today we are going to jump right in and look at the theory used to select color schemes. Don’t despair if many of the colors we use today are a bit bright! We’ll touch on how to use the theories we learn and apply it to real life design next week.
A Full Color Wheel
To fully flesh out our color wheel we need to add tertiary colors. These colors are made from mixing the primaries and secondaries. For example:
red + orange = red-orange (such fancy names)
blue +

Color makes a huge impact at any party or event. Why else would we deck the halls in red and green, go over the hill with black, and force our bridesmaids to coordinate their outfits. Obviously we intuitively know some colors just work for events. However there is a basis for picking out a good color scheme. That basis is the color wheel.
In this three part series I am going to show you the basic usage of a color wheel and how it works to pick out color schemes.
Primaries From Primary
Probably somewhere in elementary school you learned

My son is turning two at the end of November and I’m throwing him a camping themed birthday party. Why? Because he is still too young to want Spiderman, so I get to do what I want. Plus he loves being outside, so I plan on bringing the outside indoors. Of course in all this planning I had these great ideas to DIY for his party when I remembered something very important… We’ll be in Mexico until two days before his birthday. Crap!
If I can’t DIY maybe I can buy someone else’s DIY. The following mood board is all
